O selo Virgin, que já foi um dos maiores do mundo e acabou se transformando no alicerce de um conglomerado que englobou lojas de discos, companhias aéreas, rede de trens, operadoras de telefonia, etc, completa 40 anos e um CD triplo chega ao mercado para comemorar a data.
O início do selo não poderia ser melhor, com o lançamento de Tubular Bells, álbum de estreia e obra prima do músico Mike Oldfield. Mas não pensem que foi um sucesso isolado. Por lá passaram nomes grandes e diversos como Sex Pistols, Culture Club, Daft Punk, Lenny Kravitz, Phil Collins, Simple Minds, Brian Ferry, Spice Girls e UB40.
A salada mista pode causar estranheza e alguns narizes torcidos, mas a coletânea faz um belo apanhado da trajetória do selo. O disco peca na coerência musical, mas ganha muitos pontos no quesito documento histórico.
